Financial Accounting Foundation Names Grace L. Hinchman Vice President, External Relations & Communications
Norwalk, CT, November 11, 2009—The Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) today announced that Grace L. Hinchman has been named vice president, external relations & communications. Ms. Hinchman, who will be based in Washington, D.C., brings to the FAF more than 25 years of legislative and regulatory advocacy experience. She will fill a new role created by the FAF reflecting its strategic commitment to strengthen the organization’s relationships and enhance communications regarding the goals, priorities, and activities of the FAF, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
“We are delighted to have Grace join the FAF team in this key new role, as her deep public policy expertise and knowledge of financial reporting issues will add tremendous value to the FAF, FASB, and GASB,” stated Terri Polley, FAF president. “Her appointment fulfills an important step in our strategy to enhance our communications and relationships with constituents.”Ms. Hinchman began her career on Capitol Hill having served on congressional and Senate staffs including the staff of the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York and Congressman David Emery of Maine. Her expertise in public policy and advocacy developed further during her nine years at Financial Executives International (FEI) where she set the strategic direction and led the management of FEI’s advocacy activities. During her tenure as FEI’s senior vice president, Ms. Hinchman developed a keen understanding and appreciation for financial reporting policies and issues such as mark-to-market, revenue recognition, and international convergence of accounting standards. Earlier in her career, she led Digital Equipment Corporation’s Washington, D.C., office and had overall responsibility for tax, healthcare, and internet technology policy issues.
Ms. Hinchman holds an MBA from George Washington University and a BS from the University of Maryland.
About the Financial Accounting Foundation
The FAF is responsible for the oversight, administration, and finances of both the Financial Accounting Standards Board and its counterpart for state and local government, the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. The FAF also is responsible for selecting the members of both Boards and their respective Advisory Councils.
